What is this, 20 Questions!??
I asked myself some pretty searching questions once - here's how I fared:
- Hi Russ - What's your name? Er "Russ"...(??)
- Ah sorry - ummm How old are you? I'm in my mid-thirties
- What do you like to do with your time? Well I used to skate a lot but having badly injured by left ACL and hospitalised myself doing a funbox backside 50/50 in March '04, I've not been near the bastard thing since. I'm now concentrating almost all of my spare time researching systems, issues, technology and attitudes pertaining to sustainable living and energy efficient building, as we're building our own house right now.
- That sounds pretty awesome - how's all that going? Pretty bloody good actually. Check out the photos or Twitter for how we're going with the project
- Cool and back to the skating, so umm when you skated - could you do lots of flippy type trick-thingies? he - yeah, about 20 different "flippy type trick-thingies"
- What's a "tre flip" then? It's another name for a 360 kickflip. It's basically a regular kickflip but the board rotates 360°
- Choice, so what kind of tunes are you into? Techno, Hard-Trance and tuneful Hip Hop
- Fave song/track? K90 Hyper Intelligence
- And do have a girlfriend? Errr Yup! I asked my girlfriend of about 4 years (I can't remember exactly how long it's been but she is very good at remembering!) to marry me in January 2010 and she said "yes"
- That's great, congratulations and all that! So, ummm does she have a name? Oh sorry - she's called Tasia, she's the same age as I am and she's a native of these fair shores.
- Nice - so if you did something, would you be pleased? Er naturally. (wtf?)
- 15 men on a dead-mans chest, yo ho ho and a ... Pint of Stella Speights?
- Tea or Coffee? Coffee every time mate..
- What would you describe as being your best achievement to date? Since you interviewed me for the first time back in 2000 at the inception of this site, it was simply having lived and worked in Aussie and NZ but now it's one and all of: Moving to NZ in '05, meeting Tasia, learning to drive, buying, doing-up and selling a house and now building a new house.
- Crazy, you only learned to drive recently then? Yeah man. Europe where I'm from is full of public transport. Something that's still catching on over here. I didn't really need to own a car. I had these two things called "legs" and this thing called a "skateboard" which did me just fine thanks.
- Favourite food? Well Tasia is a veggie and I'm now as good as one at home so: Veggie lasagne, Salmon pita bread with cream-cheese and avocado, mushroom risotto cooked in white-wine, Zucchini pasta with a creamy herb and parmesan sauce..quite a few then.
- Favourite drink? Trying to ween myself off beer. But it isn't working, especially as we know occasionally brew our own....
- Do you have a fave actor/actress? Maybe Harrison Ford? The guy has style. I like Bill Murray too. He's one of the more popular American actors able to convincingly do sarcasm.
- Is the glass half empty or half full? Neither. I'm a realist. The glass has 50% of its available volume occupied by an as yet unspecific liquid.
- Finally Russ, what are your hopes and aspirations? To move to a country with a warmer climate, with a more proactive attitude to the outdoors and outdoorsy things. In other words, probably New Zealand, when I'm in my early 30s. Done. To own my own property and become as self sufficient as I am able to. Becoming less reliant upon centralised utilities like electricity generation for heat and electronics (wind-turbine + solar PV and solar thermal), mass-produced food (vege garden) council supplied water (rainwater collection tanks).. but we'll see though..
'Hey thanks for helping out with the interview Russ'.
'No worries Russ'.
